Explanation of Column Headings in Course Listings
OPEN - open seats Number - a small green check appears if there are open seats.
SCHED - Schedule Number - the five-digit number you enter into ISIS to add the course.
SECT - Section - section number of the course.
CRD - Credits - number of credits for which the course is offered. If this is listed as a range of credits (e.g., 1.0-12.0), ISIS requires you to enter the number of credits for which you wish to take the course.
Time - time of day the course meets, using a 24-hour clock (e.g, 1200 is noon, and 1300 is 1:00 P.M.).
DAY - days of week when the course meets:
M - Monday
T - Tuesday
W - Wednesday
R - Thursday
F - Friday
S - Saturday
BUILDING - where the course meets. Buildings abbreviations are expanded here .
INSTRUCTOR - the professor(s) assigned to the course. Adding an Independent Instruction or Thesis Dissertation course requires an instructor number.
ENROLL - Authorized/Actual
Enrollment - the number of students authorized to enroll
in the course, and the number actually in the course as of the
most recent update of data.
GRADE - Grading
Method - for courses marked O or G, a letter grade is assumed
unless you select otherwise. O
- all letter grades valid except S or U Only
those courses with a grading method of O or P can be taken on a
credit/no credit basis, unless prohibited by a student's school
of enrollment. All courses except those with a grading method of
N or Y can be taken for an audit, unless prohibited by a student's
school of enrollment. To change the grading method using ISIS via
the telephone, add the course first and then go to the "Change"
function to change the grading method; if using ISIS Online, indicate
the grading option at the time of the add. Course
Restrictions - restrictions on who is allowed to enroll for
the class. If you do not meet the restrictions or the course is
marked "Instructor Permission", you can add only with
a course action form signed by the instructor. College
Area Requirements - courses which meet the Historical Studies
requirement, the Non-Western Perspectives requirement, or the Second
Writing requirement for students in the College of Arts and Sciences.
All courses in the department of History satisfy the Historical
Studies requirement.
G - all letter grades valid except CR, NC, S, or U
P - CR or NC only are valid
S - S or U only are valid
N - NR only is valid; for non-resident status only
